glorycloud's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

without the heavenly Jerusalem are said to be dogs

It is 12:09 PM Monday afternoon here in West Michigan. It is very warm and sunny day. It feels like Summer instead of late Autumn today.

I got up this morning around 7 o'clock AM. I mainly spent the morning writing in my paper diary and reading from a book titled, 'Christ's Prayer Before His Passion-Expository Sermons on John 17' Volume One by Anthony Burgess. I really have done nothing else today.

I do not know what I will do the rest of this day. Due to the hot weather I got out the hoses to water plants and trees in our back and front yard. Everything is drying up that was recently planted by the landscapers that recently landscaped our property.

Last night I watched professional football and went to bed around 11 o'clock PM. Carol had gone to bed early as usual. I mainly read last night from a book titled, 'Nothing To Be Frightened Of' A Memoir by Julian Barnes.

I am suppose to get delivered by Amazon today a new book on Church History. Well I suppose I will close to drift through this hot afternoon.

"Ʋse of Exhortation so to live and so to walk, as that you may be prepared for this eternal glory: Oh what a glory will it be when God at the day of judgement shall say, Come ye blessed of my Father inherit the Kingdom prepared for you: When God and Angels shall put honor upon you, why should not the faith of these things raise up your spirits, why should it no more affect you? and that you may obtain this take heed of what will totally deprive you of it, or else greatly weaken your thoughts and hopes about it: That which totally depriveth is a constant willful continuance in gross sinnes, Be not deceived, neither whoremonger or drunkards, &c. shall inherit the Kingdom of God, 1 Cor. 6.9. and without the heavenly Jerusalem are said to be dogs, Rev. 22.15. The Scripture calls all wicked men such who lick up the vomit of their sin; Oh then the hopeless and damnable condition of most people. Doth not the Land in every place mourn for the whoredoms, and drunkenness', and oaths that are every where? if God say, the Lord shall spue out such Inhabitants, God thinketh the earth too good for them, will he bestow heaven on them?

And then 2. The godly who have a right and interest to this glory, they weaken their hopes and entreat their fears, when they walk negligently, when they are earthly or dejected through diffidence, you might have this glory here on earth, and be in heaven before you are in heaven, were you not wanting to your selves." Anthony Burgess Sermon 28
