glorycloud's Diaryland Diary

the beauty of the Lord

It is in the icy cold Death Flow 3:48 PM Friday late afternoon. It feels like it is going to rain soon here by Lake Michigan.

This morning Carol and I went to Grand Rapids to check out the Grand Opening of a new REI store and then visit bookstores. We left here around 8 o'clock AM and drove to the new REI Co-Op store and saw hundreds of people lined up around the store, so we decided to come back later after the crowds thinned down somewhat. We went and got coffee and a sweet roll at Panera Bread and then drove over to Baker Christian Book Store to look at new and used Christian books. Carol bought sixteen books and I bought five books. I bought these five books-

'Romans Disarmed: Revisiting Empire/Demanding Justice' by Sylvia C. Keesmaat/Brian J. Walsh

'Justification' Two Volume Set by Michael Horton [New Studies In Dogmatics]

'The Doctrine On Which the Church Stands or Falls: Justification In Biblical, Theological, Historical, And Pastoral Perspective' Edited by Matthew Barrett

'The Beauty of the Lord: Theology As Aesthetics' by Jonathan King

After Baker Book House we went to REI and bought some clothes. We stood over an hour in line to pay for our four shirts! After REI Co-Op we went to Schuler Books & Music. I bought two used books there-

'My Life as a Fake' a novel by Peter Carey

'Published In Paris: A Literary Chronicle Of Paris In The 1920's and 1930's' by Hugh Ford

After Schuler's we went out for lunch and then drove home. I was too tired to visit any more book stores. I needed to get back home and recover from life.

So has gone by time. This evening our oldest son and his family are coming over for dinner.

Last night I read before going to bed from a book titled, 'The Bookshop of the World: Making and Trading Books in the Dutch Golden Age' by Andrew Pettegree & Arthur der Weduwen. I read today off and on from a novel titled, 'My Friends' by Emmanuel Bove Translated By Janet Louth.

Well I will close to recover. Tomorrow is a Saturday
