glorycloud's Diaryland Diary

the fields of battle

It is in the flow of world wide decline of Western values of decency 11:53 AM Tuesday morning. I have been up since 5:50 AM so right now I feel wasted. I might doze this afternoon so as to be able to face the rest of the day with some awareness of my solitary existence.

I won't describe my morning because it follows the same routine each day. I did leave the house this morning to buy coffee beans and to visit local thrift stores to look for used books to add to our library. I found these used books this morning-

"George Eliot: The Last Victorian" biography by Kathryn Hughes

"What Has Christianity Ever Done For Us? How it shaped the modern world" by Jonathan Hill

"The Good Life: The Meaning of Success for the American Middle Class" by Lorn Baritz

"Fields Of Battle: The Wars For North America" non-fiction by John Keegan

"The Rival Queens: Catherine de' Medici, Her Daughter Marquerite de Valois, and the Betrayal That Ignited a Kingdom" by Nancy Goldstone

"Devil Sent The Rain: Music and Writing in Desperate America" essays by Tom Piazza

"Saints and Strangers" American History by George F. Willison

"The Ordeal of Total War 1939-1945" European History by Gordon Wright

"The House Of Medici: Its Rise And Fall" European History by Christopher Hibbert

"The Meadow" a novel by James Galvin

"Caligula: The Corruption Of Power" Ancient Rome by Anthony A. Barrett

It is now 12:06 PM afternoon. I do not know what the day holds for us. We all could be in the Eternal State by nightfall. The Lord could return anytime for His blood bought Bride the Church.

This morning I read for morning worship my newest book titled, "Reading The Bible Supernaturally" by John Piper. Well I will close since my tank is running on empty.

"[1] And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
[2] And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
[3] And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
[4] And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
[5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
[6] And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
[7] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
[8] All these are the beginning of sorrows." Matthew 24:1-8
