"85. Just as the soul's powers of motivation excel those of cognition, so knowledge gained through unitive love, which penetrates divine secrets, outshines everything grasped cognitively. Blessed Denis defines this wisdom, which incomparably exceeds all others, as follows: "Wisdom is the most divine knowledge of God known through ignorance." And this wisdom is said not only to outshine, but also to be more universal and more profitable than, other knowledge, cognitions, and leanings. For not only does this wisdom raise the affectus above itself and unite the creature perfectly to the Bridegroom in ecstatic love, but it elevates the eager intellect so that all prudence and cognition are far more flooded by divine flashes of lightning than could result from any enlightenment achieved by the exercise of human talent." pg. 142 Hugh of Balma I wonder why I spend my hours reading Mystical Theology. Well I also read 16th century Protestant Reformation Theology. I also read modern New Testament commentaries on the Gospel of John. I read all kinds of books as I wait to go into the Eternal State. It can be kind of scary knowing you will never cease to exist. There is an afterlife. Carol is home from the grocery store. Well I will close to drift into the afternoon hours. Soon time will be no more. I remember these words of the apostle Paul, "But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
