glorycloud's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the dwelling of Jesus Christ in our heart "What a delight it is to have God within ourselves, in the innermost depths of our being, diffused so to speak, throughout the entire soul, even into its powers and faculties, without destroying anything, so that it may enter, by participation , into the natural condition of God, and be clasped and embraced by the plenitude of the divinity. And as if this were not enough, that it may be completely perfected and assisted, it is ennobled and fortified in its intellect and its will to produce generous efforts in conformity with its new condition and in proportion to the greatness of the merit of Him whom grace renders present and proposes as the object of the love that it is obliged to render Him. This is what the Apostle calls "the riches of the glory of the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Eph. 3:14-16), before whom he bows the knee that it may please Him to bestow these riches on us and to grant us the grace to know their importance, so that being fortified by the all-powerful virtue of the Holy Spirit in our inmost being and by the dwelling of Jesus Christ in our heart, we may be filled with all the fullness of the divinity in the intellect that He enlightens and in the will that He enkindles; with the fullness of the divinity in the intellect as the object of its knowledge and in the will as the object of its love; with all the fullness of the divinity in the irascible appetite, which strengthens and makes magnanimous, and the concupiscible appetite, which He establishes in temperance and in order" pg. 308, 309 'The Cross Of Jesus' by Louis Chardon, O.P. 1:37 p.m. - 2023-10-20 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
