the beauty and glory of Christian living

It is now in the flow of the years of our lives 8:30 AM Sunday morning. I am down in the lower level writing on my old lap top machine computer. What would the world be like without computers. In a way it is scary to realize how dependent we have become on computers. Has the computer made the world a better place for all of mankind. Has the computer change the history of mankind. Has the computer changed my perception of the world? This computer allows me to communicate to people all over the world. The Word of God can go out to all the ends of the world. I remember these words in the Gospel of Matthew, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come" Matthew 24:14.

I got up this morning around 7 o'clock AM. I got up made a pot of coffee and then messed with our main computer. Carol got up and we had breakfast. As we ate Carol looked the Sunday morning newspapers and I wrote in my paper diary. Carol will go to church this morning. She works the next two nights. We are coming to the end of September 2014 and entering the month of October 2014. We are coming to the end of another year of world history.

Last night Carol and I went grocery shopping. When we got home from food gathering we put away our supplies and watched college football.

I read mainly last a used book I bought yesterday at the used books sale titled, "Candor & Perversion: Literature, Education, and the Arts" by Roger Shattuck. I have these other books by Roger Shattuck in our library-

"Forbidden Knowledge From Prometheus To Pornography" by Roger Shattuck

"Marcel Proust" literary study by Roger Shattuck

"The Banquet Years: The Origins Of The Avant-Garde In France 1885 to World War I" by Roger Shattuck

Carol and I went to bed around 10 o'clock PM last night.

I have no plans for the day ahead. Do not know if I am in the mood today to watch professional football.

This morning I have been reading a new book sent to me by Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary located in Grand Rapids Michigan titled, "The Beauty & Glory Of Christian Living" Edited By Joel R. Beeke. I got out to read once again "The Works Of Ralph Erskine" Volume 5. In this volume I am reading a wonderful sermon by Erskine titled THE SAVING SIGHT; OR A VIEW OF GOD IN CHRIST text "He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father" John 14:6.

If you want to read something on Ralph Erskine check out this volume titled, "Puritan Reformed Spirituality" by Joel R. Beeke. In this volume there is a chapter titled 'The Lives of Ebenezer and Ralph Erskine: Dissenters with a Cause' pg. 238-287. In my library I have book titled, "Dictionary of Scottish Church History & Theology" that has articles on Ebenezer and Ralph Erskine.

Ebenezer Erskine (1680-1754)

Ralph Erskine (1685-1752)

In my library I have an old volume of sermons by Ebenezer Erskine published in 1836. THE WHOLE WORKS OF THE REV. EBENEZER ERSKINE, MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL AT STIRLING CONSISTING OF SERMONS AND DISCOURSES Volume 1. I do not have sadly to write volumes 2 and 3. I do not think the sermons of Ebenezer Erskine have been published, whereas his brother Ralph Erskine has had his sermons reprinted. I have in my library THE WORKS OF RALPH ERSKINE 6 volumes. I bought this set many years ago from Dr. Beeke.

Well the morning goes by. I will close to quote from Ralph Erskine's sermon THE SAVING SIGHT.
