glorycloud's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- she thirsts to be affected toward God almost daily It is 1:58 PM Thursday afternoon here in Michigan. It is 50 degrees and cloudy. I got up this morning around 7:15 AM. When I came upstairs Carol was getting ready to leave to have breakfast with a friend. I spent the morning writing in my paper diary and reading, 'Carthusian Spirituality: The Writings Of Hugh Of Balma And Guigo De Ponte' [The Classics of Western Spirituality]. It is now 2:02 PM and soon it will be night time. Carol did not get home till 11 o'clock AM. She talked to her friend for three hours and then got her hair cut. I spent the morning and afternoon hours writing in my paper diary and reading, 'On Contemplation' by Guigo De Ponte. There is not much else to report, so I will close to do my little dance of death. Last night I read before going to bed from a book titled, 'Vagabond: Life on the Streets of Nineteenth-Century London' by Oskar Jensen. 'The godly spirit is said to cling to God when, as much as her frailty permits, she follows the example of the angelic host on fire with perfect charity before God as she burns with the glowing flame of godliness close to God. More than that, she is inflamed in God himself with lively yearnings that taste nothing except God himself or something of him that points toward possessing him. By this exercise the godly spirit turned angelic citizen is taught and even divinely forced to prepare for repeated ascents in her heart and to dwell in the presence of God often, full of praise and fiery prayer.
