glorycloud's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Death Valley It is 5:19 PM Tuesday early evening here in Western Michigan. Outside it is warm, sunny, and not so smoky as of late. This morning Carol and I drove over to Grand Rapids to go to a Fourth of July used books sale and to visit two of our favorite Christian book stores-Baker Book House and Reformation Heritage Books and then we went to the used books sale around 2 o'clock PM-the sale started at 3 o'clock PM. At the used books sale I saw very little that I thought was worth buying. I will first list the books NEW at Reformation Heritage Books- 'The Age of Reform 1250-1550: An Intellectual and Religious History of Late Medieval and Reformation Europe' by Steven Ozment 'Great Spoil: Thomas Manton's Spirituality Of The Word' by J. Stephen Yuille 'Reformed Apologetics: Retrieving the Classic Reformed Approach to Defending the Faith' by J. V. Fesko 'Providence, Freedom, And The Will In Early Modern Reformed Theology' by Richard A. Muller 'Beginning At Moses: A Guide to Finding Christ in the Old Testament' by Michael P. V. Barrett 'Believer's Evidences For Eternal Life' by Francis Robert (1609-1675) 'Owen on the Christian Life' by Matthew Barrett & Michael A. G. Haykin After visiting Reformation Heritage Books we drove over to Baker Book House- 'A Hermeneutic Of Wisdom: Recovering The Formative Agency Of Scripture' by J. De Waal Dryden 'The Holy Spirit' by Christopher R. J. Holmes 'Retrieving Nicaea: The Development and Meaning of Trinitarian Doctrine' by Khaled Anatolios 'Evangelicals and Nicene Faith: Reclaiming The Apostolic Witness' Edited by Timothy George It was early but we went to the used books sale that was being held inside a library-we waited about an hour and then got in line. Like I said the used books sale was a disappointment but that is the way it goes-I did buy a few used books at this sale- 'Caleb Williams' a novel by William Godwin 'The Aesthetic Adventure' by William Gaunt 'The American Adam: Innocence, Tragedy, and Tradition in the Nineteenth Century' by R.W.B. Lewis We were Home by 4:35 PM-so has gone by this day thus far. I am tired so I will close to face the coming darkness. All I have attempted to read today was from a novel titled, 'My Red Heaven' by Lance Olsen. 5:46 p.m. - 2023-07-03 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
