It is a cold gray wet day. One can feel the end of Summer and the beginning of Autumn coming this week. We are already going into the middle of the month this week. Next week on the 22nd it will be the first day of Autumn. I hope and pray it does not get cold and snowy till February 2023. I do not like the Winter months here in Michigan. I got up this morning around 7:26 AM. Carol had been up since 4 o'clock AM. She left for church around 8:15 AM and got home around 12:05 PM. While Carol was gone I wrote in my paper diary, filmed a video and read from a book titled, '"Dominus Illuminatio Mea" Commentary On The Davidic Psalms Volume II Psalms 26-50 By Denis The Carthusian. I am now in Psalm 51 in Denis The Carthusians commentary on the Psalms. Here is a quote from the volume on Psalm 50 verses 22,23 "Now consider this ye that forget God, lest I tear you to pieces, and there be none to deliver. Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God." "understand these things [now consider this ye] that is, reflect upon them in a most profound way, you that forget God [ye that forget God], you not attending to his precepts, nor thinking of his horrible judgment, nor attending to his glorious promises lest I tear you to pieces, that is, lest God extract you from this life at some time when you are unprepared, unexpectedly to present you at his tribunal and there be none to deliver you of his just judgment. For no one is able to redeem a person who dies in mortal sin, unless through some special grace that person would be brought back to his earlier state. the sacrifice of praise offer to God shall glorify me, for it is accepted, that is, in the praise to God reverently offered is the way by which I will shew you, the one immolated in such a sacrifice the salvation of God, that is, Christ, the Savior of the human race. For by the sacrifice of praise we come upon the vision of Christ in the present by faith, and face-to-face in the future. Indeed, the most optima way to acquire beatitude is the praise of God, according to that which the Lord asserted in another place: Whosoever shall glorify me, him will I glorify. See how admirable is the virtue of this Psalm, how fruitful is its knowledge. And who is able to express its praise? In this [Psalm] the goodness of the first coming of the Lord and Savior is described so beautifully, because the God of gods himself has spoken to the world, inviting all men to his faith; and, in addition, the terror of the future judgment or his second coming is so terrifying explained in it; and many other things are most brilliantly sung about in it. Let us endeavor, therefore, so to follow the humility, poverty, and piety of the Christ of the first coming, so that in his second coming we may be found worthy to see his majesty and glory and justice without fear. Let us propose with the eye of our mind, and in our hearts let us vigorously picture, the quality of the future judgment-how horrendous it will be to see the burning elements, the battle-array of angels, the faces of demons, the most monstrous bodies of the reprobate, the rending of the highest heavens, the yawning of the earth, the Judge in a rage, and to await the inevitable sentence of eternal damnation, and to see before oneself the sempiternal torment being made ready. If we consider this and similar things in a solicitous way, then without doubt in the day of such horror we will stand secure and rejoicing." pg. 487,488 Denis The Carthusian I found the above very sobering and something to consider as I see around me men and women living very wicked lives.
