some signs that will precede the Day of Judgment

"[25] And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
[26] Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
[27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
[28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Luke 21:25-28

"We should note here that the Lord touches only briefly on some signs that will precede the Day of Judgment. In the Historia Scholastica, however, it says that Jerome found in the annals of the Hebrews signs that would take place on fifteen days before Judgment Day, although whether these days follow immediately in sequence or at intervals is not clear; the former seems doubtful. On the first day the sea will rise sixty feet above the height of the mountains, standing in place like a wall. On the second day it will recede so much that it can barely be seen. On the third day whales and other sea creatures will bellow to the heavens. On the fourth day the sea and all waters will evaporate. On the fifth day trees and plants will produce a dew of blood. On the sixth day all buildings will collapse. On the seventh day rocks will collide with one another. On the eighth day there will be a general earthquake. On the ninth day the earth will be leveled. On the tenth day people will emerge from caves and run about madly, unable to talk to one another. On the eleventh day the bones of the dead will rise and stand upon their graves. On the twelfth day the stars will will seem to fall from the sky. On the thirteenth day all the living will die, so that they can rise with the dead. On the fourteenth day heaven and earth will burn, that the surfaces of the sky and the earth. On the fifteenth day there will be a new heaven and new earth, and all people will rise.

O, a heart is truly depraved that does not melt at hearing these things and is not moved to repent-harder than stone, harder than a diamond! These terrible sins that precede show the even more terrible Judgment to follow" pg. 632 Ludolph of Saxony 'The Life Of Jesus Christ' Part Two Volume 1, Chapters 1-57 Translated By Milton T. Walsh
