glorycloud's Diaryland Diary

the absorptive capacity of modern bourgeois society

It is 7:04 AM Monday morning here in west Michigan. I am still waking up to another day in the dead american world. Am I wrong as a Christian to describe the world as being spiritual dead? Should I as a Christian see the world as a wonderful spiritually alive planet? I have been taught as a Christian to see the fallen world as an enemy to biblical godliness. Christians from what I have read in the Bible are not set their affections on this material world. A Christian is to seek heavenly realities.

Anyway it is a new day I am already feeling exhausted. This morning I once again volunteer at our local library used books store The Book Nook from 10 o'clock AM till 1 o'clock PM. Carol works the next two nights so she will sleep this afternoon.

This morning there are no books next to me to read for devotions. Lately I wake up in the mornings too tired to think deeply. Yesterday I mainly read all day from a book titled, 'Modernism The Lure Of Heresy: From Baudelaire To Beckett And Beyond' by Peter Gay.

Carol did not get home from Covenant PCA till 12:30 PM. After church she said their was a congregation meeting and then she went downtown to Reader's World to see more Sunday newspapers.

Carol took a long afternoon yesterday and then went back to Covenant PCA. When she got home I was still sitting in our dining room reading 'Modernism" by Peter Gay.

During the Sunday evening hours we watched television and went to bed around 10:30 PM. Now it is another day to wait to die and go to Heaven. What else is there? We live for a short span of time and then we die and go into the Eternal State.

Well since I am about to pass out from exhaustion I will close to have another cup of coffee.

"[1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
[2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
[3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
[4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
[5] Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
[6] For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
[7] In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them." Colossians 3:1-7
