glorycloud's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the rest is fundamentally eschatological

It is 11:33 AM Monday morning in the flow of existence.

Josiah and I took Rudy for a walk this morning at Van Raalte Farm park.

Carol went to the grocery store after work this morning. She got home around 10 o'clock AM. I thought she was off from work tonight, but she is off Tuesday and Wednesday. I can never remember for sure when my wife is off from work. In my old age my memory is disappearing.

Caleb and Josiah are in the living room. Caleb hooked up Beth's computer. Josiah is messing with his lap top. Josiah has music by Tom Waits on his lap top. I asked him to burn me some music by Tom Waits for my music collection. Most of what I have by Tom Waits is on cassette tape not CD. It is nice to listen to the music of Tom Waits during the Last Days.

This morning I read with much delight New Testament Theology. I wonder how long I will be able to read New Testament theology? I can usually read stuff for two weeks before getting burned out on it.

Right now I am sitting in my study typing on my lap top listening to music drinking a can of pop. I am living the life of a prince. In my study I have another book of New Testament Theology titled “Theology of the New Testament: A Canonical And Synthetic Approach” by Frank Thielman.

I also have this book near me “An Introduction to the New Testament: Contexts, Methods & Formation” by David A. DeSilva

I built my library to a teaching elder’s library not a hippie. Am I a hippie? No I am old book worm who wanted to be a teaching elder. Now I am a Christian man who hopes he is not decaying spiritually.

Most of my books are down in the basement but I have around a couple hundred books in my study to keep me company in my state of exile. I am really into Pauline theology as a freak. Here is a list of books on Pauline theology in my study presently---

“Pauline Christology: An Exegetical-Theological Study” by Gordon D. Fee

“Apostle Paul: His Life and Theology” by Udo Schnelle translator M. Eugene Boring

“Paul, Judaism, And The Gentiles: Beyond The New Perspective” by Francis Watson

“Perspectives Old And New On Paul: The “Lutheran” Paul and His Critics” by Stephen Westerholm

“Apostle Of The Crucified Lord: A Theological Introduction To Paul & His Letters” by Michael J. Gorman

“Contours Of Pauline Theology: A Radical New Survey Of The Influences On Paul’s Biblical Writings” by Tom Holland

“Paul’s Letter to the Romans: A Socio-Rhetorical Commentary” by Ben Witherington III with Darlene Hyatt

“Rediscovering Paul: An Introduction to His World, Letters and Theology” by David B. Capes, Rodney Reeves and E. Randolph Richards

“Romans” [Hermeneia A Critical and Historical Commentary on the Bible] by Robert Jewett

“Romans” [Smyth & Helwys Bible Commentary] by Charles H. Talbert

“Recovering Paul’s Mother Tongue: Language And Theology In Galatians” by Susan Eastman

I could list more books on Pauline theology but you get the drift. I am a student of the Holy Bible. If the Lord Jesus is coming back it is important to keep your nose in the Book.

It is 12:04 PM Monday afternoon now in the flow. I wonder if I am in the mood to eat lunch?

I will close to see what Caleb and Josiah are doing now.
